Are you a young person living in Abuja, passionate about how to improve the city you live in especially in such a time as this where house rent keeps increasing and government efforts are limited and yet exacerbated by targeting urban poor communities for evictions and demolitions. Do you believe that with the right skillsets in Photography, Videography, video editing and Content Creation you can advocate and amplify the voices and demands of the everyday city resident for a sustainable, inclusive and liveable FCT?
This is your opportunity to develop modern day digital media skills to push advocacy while also making a living out of it.
We are looking for 10 committed, passionate young persons to participate in a 5-intensive hands-on training that introduces them to the concepts of urban planning, design, creative urban communication for development techniques for advocacy and policy influencing purposes.
On completion of the program, trainees will volunteer for 6 months with HipCity Innovation Centre chronicling the daily challenges faced by Abuja city residents in the areas of housing, transportation etc.
ELIGIBILITY
- Candidates must be young persons between the ages of 18 to 35 years with interest or skills in Digital Photography, Videography (Documentary and Storytelling), or Social Media management
- Candidates must have lived in Abuja for at least 2 years and above
- Candidates must be present throughout the week-long training in Abuja in the month of April 2025
- Candidates must be available to volunteer 6 months flexible time with HipCity Innovation Centre to advocate for issues of urban planning and development in Abuja.
- Young women and PWDs are strongly encouraged to apply
- Candidates must have a laptop or can access one for practicals during the training.
